Vector tracing Hisoka

Vector tracing my line art

Converting a pencil and paper sketch into vector art

One type of media I have almost no experience working in is, Vector Art. With Vector Art you are able to trace over your scanned in pencil and paper art to transform it into a image that is not in pixels but in mathematical form. Being in this mathematical form your image is then in essence re built every time you zoom in, so no matter the zoom your image will never appear to be made of individual pixels. So to start my journey into this form of media I decided to trace the sketch of Hisoka from Hunter X Hunter I posted previously.

Drawing a scene from Spirited Away

One of the most inspiring animated films for me was Spirited Away, I can still remember the first time seeing the wind blowing thru the grass, The lovely expressions of the characters and the fantastical spirit world. I felt inspired to draw the scene where Chihiro and Haku share rice balls while she attempts to cope with being all alone in the scary spirit world bathhouse.

Drawing Hisoka

Drawing Hisoka from Hunter X Hunter.

The classic evil clown character has been present in a number of popular games and shows, one example being Kefka from Final Fantasy. Of the evil clown characters I am aware of, one of my favorite designs is Hisoka from Hunter X Hunter. If you are not aware of this character a quick summary might be a self-serving, self-absorbed, and selfish person with an insatiable love for spilling the blood of powerful fighters. So I decided I would like to look at some reference images and attempt to draw him.
