Color on the scene

Attempting a scene with some color

I have been trying to expand my drawing into styles and subjects I have not practiced much to push my boundaries. One thing I have not done a ton of is drawing landscapes and doing color pencil work and so I figured to take a shot at freehand drawing a random scene from google image search and coloring it with a set of cheapo color pencils.

Heart of the ogre

Exercise in drawing from my imagination

When the great demon lord finally fell his heart was ripped from his chest by the hero. Evil poured from it like a spring of death and it took on a life of it’s own. Before the hero could regain his composure it fled the battle field. They say it’s hiding deep in the earth in a ancient place of evil untouched by light since the birth of the world biding it’s time until it regains power enough to revive the demon lord to it’s former power.

Drawing insects

Drawing a praying mantis perched on a rock

I have done a lot of quick sketches of mammals, fish even birds but not as many insects. So today I decided I should give a stab at drawing a preying mantis. I just googled praying mantis and attempted to freehand sketch the following reference image.

Vector elephants

Converting another sketch

Elephants are super interesting animals, Even being the largest land mammal they can still peel the shell off a peanut with their trunk. It’s no wonder they are one of the most famous animals around. I felt inspired to sketch up a image of a elephant and converted it into a vector graphic.

Drawing adventure

Drawing adventure time characters

A cartoon I really enjoyed was adventure time. The weird and wacky setting of earth partially destroyed filled with outrageously over exaggerated characters sparked my imagination and the more serious exploration of fin the human boys mental states left a lasting impact. So I decided to pay homage to the show by drawing some of my favorite characters.

Converting Jessica’s sketch

Moving a old sketch of Jessica’s into mathematical art.

I was looking thru Jessica’s sketches when suddenly I noticed a nice and general shape of a bird, for whatever reason it tugged on my drawing instincts and screamed “Turn me into vector art”. So I decided to go ahead and trace it up as a vector image.
